Remember when words meant something?
ByWhen is the last time you used one of these? For some, never. This post isn’t about typewriters, I just added the pictures because I have an obsession of taking random photos. I embrace the technological age of facebook, twitter and texting, don’t get me wrong. Though abbreviations and lmao’s, really start to bug me, OMG! When is the last time you sat down and put pen to paper and really poured your thoughts on what used to be a tree? I’m not one to sit down a write a novel emptying a bag of bic pens, but there is just something about unfolding a piece of paper and seeing the print, hand written print. I still give my wife hand written letters now and then and she still has everyone, even the ones when we were first dating. I’d like to think those letters mean more to her than the text I sent the other day saying “love you”. That text is forgotten and lost and cyberspace, but those letters are nestled in an old shoebox on the top shelf. Try it sometime, if you can remember how.
What a beautiful message. So true. I will practice.
Pen to paper is a lost art. It’s called communication. So many times it is hard for couples to express their feelings verbally. However as you said, taking pen to paper you are not inhibited. You are able to express your feelings and open up.
As I have said we have all the devices to communicate however we can’t talk to each other.
Also I have seem phones or tablets used by individuals as a wall as not to be bothered by others. I guess for some it also makes them feel important if they have their ear bud, headphone or stylus near by
I come in contact with people everyday in my career. It’s amazing to see the expression on their faces when I say hello, you doing well.
I’m not sure if at that point I want to know their life history however we are caught up in our own little selfish world and don’t see the needs of others around.
To think the creators, shakers and movers of this country established the ground work putting pen to paper.
A thought just came to me. Look at how simple ink and paper are to the dollar bill and how it’s a catalyst for all that we do. Interesting when you start to think about the force and power behind those 2 simple elements.
I have read that individuals who read at least 30 min a day or journal are more likely to succeed with any opportunity. I can see how that creates an Einstein,Benjamin Franklin or just a special person like you and I.
All the best! Leonardo
