Made by Moore’s Patent Firearms Company, Brooklyn, N.Y.

Several thousand were made between 1861-1863. It should be barrel marked D.MOORE PATENT SEPT 18, 1860.

.32 rimfire caliber, 4″, 5″, and 6″ octagonal barrels. 7-shot cylinder.

“A very popular comeptitor to the Smith & Wesson cartridge revolvers, the Moore had a short life due to it’s loss of a [patent] infringement suit brought by Smith & Wesson. Quite a few of these were known to have been privately purchased by Union officers and enlisted men and carried the Civil War.
